This twin-centre tour staying in Pembrokeshire and County Wexford offers a great value way to experience the stunning coasts and medieval castles of two contrasting waterfront destinations.

Day 1

We leave Kent and travel to Wales with a comfort/lunch stop en route. On arrive at our hotel you will have a welcome tea or coffee and have free time to settle in prior to dinner.


Day 2

Today, we will visit Pembroke Castle, mighty fortress and birthplace of Henry VII, idyllically set on the banks of the river estuary. This enormous oval medieval castle is mostly surrounded by a serene mill pond. During our guided tour we will discover the history and stories behind Pembroke Castle and how it was extensively restored during Victorian times. We can enjoy lunch at leisure at the castle or alternatively enjoy free time in the walled town of Pembroke which surrounds the castle.

Day 3

This morning we travel to the pretty picture postcard town of Tenby. Here we can spend the day exploring quaint streets and 13th century medieval town walls, strolling around the picturesque harbour, visiting the Tenby Museum and Art Gallery or just relaxing on the golden sands of this beautiful resort. During our day at leisure we can enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants and tearooms.

Day 4

After breakfast this morning, we will visit charming St Davids, the smallest city in Britain, with a population of little more than 1,600. St David, the patron saint of Wales, lived here in the 4th century and the town is located in a designated conservation area. We can spend time strolling around the lanes and visiting St. Davids Cathedral before re-joining our coach and travelling back to Fishguard to board our ferry for the afternoon sailing to Rosslare. When we arrive in Rosslare we travel the short distance to the Talbot Hotel Wexford, our base for the next three nights.

Day 5

After breakfast, we will travel to medieval Kilkenny where we will spend our day. Here we visit Kilkenny Castle, one of the most magnificent castles in Ireland, built by the Normans who arrived in the city during the 12th century. After our tour of the castle we will enjoy free time to explore this compact medieval city with so many beautifully restored historical buildings, traditional pubs, shops, design galleries and restaurants. You may also choose to visit Smithwick's Experience or St Canice's Cathedral.

Day 6

Today we head for Ireland's oldest city, Waterford. We can take time to explore, starting with a visit to Waterford Medieval Treasures, which tells the fascinating story of the city in an interactive, high-tech museum. You may decide to visit the nearby House of Waterford Crystal, now located in the city centre or take a stroll along the quay before enjoying lunch at leisure. In the afternoon, we return to our base in the town of Wexford with its small boutiques, cobbled streets, local shops and many traditional pubs.

Day 7

After an early breakfast, we will leave our hotel to board the morning ferry from Rosslare to Fishguard and begin our journey home. We will have short comfort stops en route back to Kent.

Mercure Swansea Hotel

This modern 3 star hotel has undergone refurbishment in 2017. Bedrooms offer comfortable amenities including TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel does not have a lift but there are many ground floor rooms. The bar area features a log fireplace and there is a warmly decorated brasserie restaurant. There is also an indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym.


Talbot Hotel, Wexford

This modern yet elegant 4 star hotel overlooks the quay front in the heart of Wexford. With stylish, contemporary rooms that have recently been refurbished and which are equipped with hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. There is lift access to all floors. The public areas are superbly comfortable and spacious and comprise the large Ballast Bank Bar & Grill, the luxurious yet intimate Oyster Lane Restaurant and the stylish Gallery lounge area. This friendly hotel also offers a good sized indoor swimming pool.
