Explore the much-loved Norfolk country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen along with one of the Treasure Houses of England. In addition, enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey to the heart of the Norfolk Broads and discover this magical waterland on a memorable scenic river cruise.

There is something a little special about the region of North Norfolk with its diverse landscape of unique unspoilt coastline and rolling countryside with panoramic skies. Sandy beaches, unique salt marshes, picturesque seaside towns and quaint villages all combine with a variety of historic venues to complete the picture.

Day 1

We make our way from Kent with a lunchtime visit to the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. We continue our drive through Norfolk to arrive at our base in North Norfolk late afternoon.

Day 2

We head to Sandringham, the favourite retreat of the Queen and the Royal Family, and has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862. The house, set in 24 hectares of stunning gardens, is perhaps the most famous stately home in Norfolk and is at the heart of the 8,000 hectare Sandringham Estate, 240 hectares of which make up the woodland and heath of the Country Park.
Founded in 1932, Norfolk Lavender is England's premier lavender farm, renowned worldwide and has nearly 100 acres of lavender under cultivation. Set in beautiful tranquil gardens, the summer season is the most vibrant when all of the lavenders burst into flower and the air is full of the relaxing fragrance. See the world famous lavender gardens, the Lavender Oil Distillery, National Lavender Collection and Herb Garden.

Day 3

We make the short journey to the popular seaside resort of Cromer, perched on the very edge of the north Norfolk coast and famous for its tasty crabs, wide open beaches, spectacular cliffs, traditional pier and many of the great landmarks created by the well-to-do Victorian "summer timers". The streets of Cromer today are little removed from how they looked a hundred years ago.
We then combine a nostalgic steam train ride with a cruise on the Norfolk Broads. We first join the Bure Valley Railway to experience a nostalgic 45-minute trip by steam on Norfolk's longest narrow gauge railway which runs between the historic market town of Aylsham and bustling town of Wroxham, at the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The 9 mile trip runs through the pretty Bure Valley countryside following the meandering River Bure through meadowland and ancient pasture.
Later, we board the wonderful Mississippi Paddle boat for a 90 minute cruise on the Broads with witty and enlightening commentary. This luxury river cruiser departs from the beautiful village of Horning, along the River Bure through the village and out to Ranworth Broad and back, passing lovely old thatched houses, windmills and Norfolk reed beds.

Day 4

We enjoy a north Norfolk drive witnessing unspoilt coastline and rolling countryside. We stop at Holkham Hall, where you will enjoy a free-flow visit of this 18th Century Palladian style mansion, home to seven generations of the Earls of Leicester. It is one of the Treasure Houses of England, one of 10 of the most magnificent palaces, houses and castles in England. You can also stroll around the gardens and parkland at your leisure.
