The nostalgic little railways of Wales revive childhood memories of days gone by and we explore this beautiful country on vintage steam trains that weave their way through the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Day 1

Departing Kent in the morning we stop en route to our hotel around the area of Birmingham for lunch. On arrival at our hotel and enjoy a welcome cup of tea while our bags are taken to our room followed by dinner.

Day 2

Today, we will enjoy a lovely drive via Colwyn Bay to the "queen of Welsh resorts", Llandudno, with its wonderful beaches and lovely wide promenade. Llandudno is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing day, with its beautiful Victorian architecture and Edwardian elegance, pier and excellent selection of high street stores and attractions. During our day at leisure we can take a ride to the top of the Great Orme on the beautifully restored tramway. The tramway climbs 1500m and there is an exhibition about this fascinating funicular at the Halfway Station. From the summit, there are outstanding views across Anglesey and the peaks of Snowdonia.

Day 3

At 3,560ft, Mount Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales. We take a return ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway for a journey to "the rooftop ofWales" and, weather permitting, we will have spectacular views. The Visitor Centre has a gift shop and café and there will be plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and views before we make our descent on board the train. This afternoon, we take a ride on the Llanberis Lake Railway, a narrow gauge railway which follows the shores of the lake.

Day 4

After breakfast, we travel through the spectacular scenery of the Snowdonia National Park as we make our way to the seaside town of Porthmadog, via the pretty village of Beddgelert, to board a train on the Ffestiniog Railway. Sit back and relax as we enjoy the 13.5 mile journey with dramatic views of mountains, lakes and waterfalls around every corner. The track climbs 700ft from sea level as we journey towards the slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog. We return to our coach and make our way to the pretty village of Betws-y-Coed where we make a short stop before continuing on to our hotel.
