Our Suggested Itinerary provides us with the opportunity to experience the finest attractions in the area including Longleat, with its historic estate and amazing animal safari; Bath and its remarkably preserved Roman Baths; and medieval Wells, widely regarded as the most beautiful of all English cathedrals. Read on to find out more!

The historic, award-winning Swan Hotel in Wells could not be more centrally located or have a more dramatic view! Located directly opposite Wells Cathedral, parts of the hotel date back to 1422 and, over the years, the hotel has been sympathetically refurbished and extended, offering modern amenities in a beautiful setting. All 46 bedrooms are furnished in an elegant, traditional style and are equipped with TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Owing to the historic nature of the building, there is no lift but there are three ground floor rooms located in the adjoining Coach House. The hotel boasts an elegant yet modern bar, a comfortable lounge with a warming log fire, a beautiful wood panelled restaurant, the Swan Terrace, which has unrestricted views over Cathedral Green and Wells Cathedral, and the Walled Garden Café for al fresco dining during the summer months.

Day 1

Departing Kent this morning, we stop in Newbury for some lunch before heading the Wells and attempt to compose ourselves on discovering the incredible location of our hotel, directly opposite Wells Cathedral!

Day 2

Today we pay a visit to the extraordinary and unique Longleat estate. Widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Elizabethan architecture in Britain, set within 900 acres of stunning 'Capability' Brown landscaped parkland. Longleat House was the first stately home to fully open its doors to the public back in 1949. After a tour exploring the extraordinary history, we embark upon a safari and track down some of the world's most incredible animals. Today, the park is home to over a thousand animals, across over one hundred acres!
Please note: We are unlikely to drive through the Monkey Enclosure at Longleat due to vehicle damage

Day 3

After breakfast this morning, we will step outside our hotel and walk a matter of yards towards the Market Place where the Somerset Farmers' Market (every Wednesday 9.00 am - 2.30 pm) will be in full swing. Traditional Somerset cider, preserves, handmade cakes, artisanal breads and local cheeses are just some of the many products sold here by local suppliers at a market that won the Taste of the West's Gold Award in 2016. After touring the market, we will meet our guide outside our hotel for a walking tour of Wells. We will learn about the history of Wells Cathedral, the famous 14th Century astronomical clock, The Bishop's Palace, the town crier and the remarkable Vicars' Close. We can then enjoy lunch in one of the numerous cafés before exploring the many interesting sites which our guide has introduced to us, at our leisure.

You will have free time to enjoy lunch and then may decide to explore the stunning Bath Abbey next door to the Baths before visiting the Fashion Museum & the Royal Assembly Rooms.
