Day 1

After departing Kent, we make our way to Winchester for a lunch stop. Our visit coincides with the annual Christmas market held in the grounds of the cathedral and widely considered one of the best Christmas markets in Europe. We will then continue our journey to the Crown Hotel Weymouth, where we expect a warm welcome including a wine reception in the hotel's ballroom.

Day 2

Today we spend a relaxing day at Weymouth with its fine Georgian seafront, esplanade and impressive golden sands. On your return to the hotel, you will find it's Christmas Day! Enjoy a delicious candlelit Christmas dinner and a complementary glass of wine. If you've been good this year, Father Christmas will also make an appearance! We finish off the evening with in-house entertainment.

Day 3

Dorset is well known for numerous Areas of Natural Beauty so we start our day with a scenic drive and a stop in Dorchester for lunch. We then make our way to Athelhampton House and Gardens. The history of Athelhampton covers more than 500 years. The house is in private ownership and is lovingly maintained and still lived in today. The house dates from 1485 and is a magnificent example of early Tudor architecture and shows fascinating interiors with heraldic glass, linenfold panelling and antique furnishings. The Grade 1 listed gardens surround the main house. The formal Gardens were built in 1891 with Elizabethan style ham stone courts. The famous 30 foot high pyramids dominate the Great Court. Water forms a recurring theme, with pools, fountains and the River Piddle running through the grounds. A 15th century dovecote still houses dozens of white doves. Discover the history of Athelhampton in an introductory talk before exploring the house and gardens.

Day 4

After breakfast we depart the hotel and make our way to Swanage, pausing for a morning coffee stop in the village of Corfe. We make our break at the Corfe Castle Visitor Centre, where we can enjoy a drink admiring the views of the castle ruins, a 1000 year old fortress partially demolished during the English Civil War.
Refreshed, we make the short journey into Swanage. Like all of England's Victorian and Edwardian seaside towns, Swanage is very much a creation of the railway era and the town retains its traditional charm. Swanage Pier is an integral part of the character of Swanage, reflecting its Victorian splendour and rich heritage. Enjoy a stroll with the finest views of Swanage. Uncover more about the town's history at the Swanage Museum: from dinosaurs and the Jurassic Coast to seaside resort, stone trade and the Second World War. Alternatively, head over to the Tourist Information Centre for a Swanage Heritage Trail map, for a gentle stroll around the town. We make our return journey along the dramatic Jurassic Coast, arriving back in the hotel in time for New Years Eve! You'll be treated to a Hogmanay dinner and complementary glass of wine with party night entertainment after dinner including dancing and singing. See in the New Year with a glass of bubbly and a mince pie, followed by Auld Lang Syne at 11pm.

Day 5

We say farewell today and make our way back home, stopping first at Salisbury Christmas market. Salisbury Christmas Market transforms the heart of this beautiful medieval cathedral city into a winter wonderland with its authentic German Market-style wooden chalets and festive events. We then expect to be back in Kent late afternoon.
