Live commentary is provided by local skippers who will regale us all with fascinating facts about the incredible history of York whilst we leisurely cruise past its attractions. Day 3

This morning, we make our way to the 1930's themed Pickering Station and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway that will transport us back in time to the steam era. We board a steam or heritage diesel train and sit back to experience 24 miles of Yorkshire's amazing scenery as we travel to Whitby. We have time to explore the seaside town with its narrow cobbled streets, museums and picturesque harbour and perhaps shop for Whitby jet before enjoying lunch in one of the numerous cafés or pubs. Travelling back on our coach, we stop in Goathland, a village nestled at the bottom of a wide valley surrounded by the heather-clad hills of the North York Moors that was used as a film set for the early Harry Potter films, and is also known as Aidensfield in the UK television series 'Heartbeat'.

Day 4

After breakfast this morning we visit Castle Howard, set within 1000 acres of breathtaking landscape in the Howardian Hills. Built over 300 years ago, the castle's rich and varied history is waiting to be discovered. During our free flow visit, friendly and knowledgeable guides will be on hand to share the stories of the house, family and collections. Castle Howard featured in ITV's Victoria, and most famously starred in the film and television adaptions of Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited. We can follow the 'Seen on Screen' trail which will tell us all we need to know about its exciting connections to these popular shows. We spend the afternoon in what is regarded as 'the perfect English market town' of Helmsley. There are plenty of unique stores, galleries and boutiques, along with charming tea rooms overlooking the bustling market square and its ancient cross. Soaring above the town are the imposing ruins of Helmsley Castle, with the Walled Gardens dating back to 1759 sitting beneath them.
